A total of 312 inmates in Querétaro completed their studies at various academic levels and in the arts, as part of the social reintegration model promoted by the State Commission of the Penitentiary System (CESPQ). The graduation ceremony took place recently, consolidating the state’s focus on offering new life opportunities to inmates.
This achievement is part of the Penitentiary System’s Operating Model, aligned with the Criminal Justice System, the State Development Plan, and the State Security Program. These initiatives are supported by partnerships with institutions such as the INEA (National Institute of Advanced Studies) and the COBAQ (National Institute of Advanced Studies), which have facilitated access to elementary and high school education.
One of the highlights was the graduation of the first class of the School of Artistic Initiation, in collaboration with the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), comprised of 62 inmates trained in disciplines such as music, dance, theater, and visual arts. This project was made possible thanks to the support of the State Secretariat of Culture.
State authorities emphasized that effective reintegration requires placing people at the center of public policies. Governor Mauricio Kuri González has reiterated that education is one of the fundamental pillars for transforming the prison system into a national model based on respect for human rights and preparation for freedom.
With this graduation, Querétaro reaffirms its commitment to a modern, inclusive prison system oriented toward social reintegration.
