A man was arrested by State Police officers after the vehicle he was driving was identified as allegedly linked to crimes attributed to groups known as “montachoques” (the staged carjackings) in the state.
The arrest stemmed from an alert issued by the Rhino technological system, which detected a black BMW with license plates from the state of Morelos, a vehicle previously identified in reports analyzed by police intelligence units.
After receiving the notification, state agencies launched a search operation that located the vehicle in the vicinity of the San José El Alto neighborhood in the city of Querétaro.
According to official information, upon noticing the police presence, the driver attempted to evade the inspection; however, he was intercepted by officers a short distance away.
During the inspection, several traffic violations were detected, and the driver also displayed aggressive behavior toward the officers.
Authorities verified the vehicle’s information on official databases and confirmed its likely connection to reports of a type of crime known as “staged car crashes.”
As a result, the driver was detained and turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office, which will continue the investigation to determine his potential involvement and legal status.
