The Querétaro Winegrowers Association was founded by a group of friends passionate about wine, with the desire to combine efforts and visions to promote Querétaro wine and share experiences in their various projects. In 2022, it became the first wine cluster in the country.

Over the years, it has maintained unity among the state’s producers, adding value to the production chain and establishing itself as the driving force behind the dynamism of our wine sector.

When it comes to wine, Querétaro is considered the southernmost wine region in the Northern Hemisphere and is characterized by its extreme viticulture.

Vineyards, charming towns, and cheese factories are scattered throughout the Querétaro semi-desert, offering visitors roads and destinations full of fun, culture, and gastronomy.

The possibilities are numerous, and the combinations you can create are varied; you can travel independently or take an organized tour with a tour operator.

The grape harvest season begins, a celebration that marks the grape harvest and transforms the region into a destination brimming with outdoor experiences, local flavors, and unforgettable landscapes.

The grape harvest is a winemaking tradition celebrated in the world’s leading wine-producing regions, and Querétaro has turned it into a festival that combines wine, gastronomy, music, and tourism. For several weekends, vineyards open their doors with special events where you can learn about the harvest process, enjoy tastings, guided tours, and festive atmospheres among the vines.

If you also explore the famous Cheese and Wine Route, your getaway becomes even better. In just one weekend, you can enjoy a complete experience among vineyards, artisanal cheese dairies, and charming towns.

The perfect weekend getaway on the Cheese and Wine Route

Saturday: Wine, scenery, and a toast

Start your day by visiting one of the region’s vineyards in towns like Ezequiel Montes, Tequisquiapan, or El Marqués. Many offer winery tours, guided tastings, and restaurants with vineyard views. During June, several add special harvest activities: live music, grape stomping, wine pairing menus, and outdoor experiences.

In the afternoon, there’s nothing better than continuing your journey in Tequisquiapan, one of Querétaro’s most visited “Pueblos Mágicos” (Magical Towns). Colorful streets, handicrafts, terraces, and a relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect place to end the day with a glass of local wine. Visit the Cheese and Wine Route and take the opportunity to… experience a harvest festival!

Sunday: Artisanal Cheeses and Magical Towns

Spend the morning visiting local cheese dairies, where you can learn about traditional methods and sample fresh, aged, and specialty cheeses perfect to take home. Many experiences include tastings and pairings with Querétaro wines.

Afterward, you can continue on to Bernal, home to Peña de Bernal, one of the largest monoliths in the world. It’s the perfect way to end your trip: incredible views, traditional cuisine, and an ideal setting to relax before heading back.
