Governor Mauricio Kuri González acknowledged failures in the maintenance of water infrastructure that caused recent flooding in the capital of Querétaro. He also announced the interest of new hotel chains in investing in the state and reaffirmed his commitment to strategic projects, such as the expansion of Highway 57.

Hotel Investment Seeks Growth in Querétaro

A renowned hotel chain, recently opened in Mexico City, is considering opening a new complex in Querétaro with greater capacity than the current hotel. “Querétaro could be a good place to establish ourselves,” the governor commented, highlighting the state’s potential as a tourist and business destination.

Accepts Responsibility for Failures That Caused Flooding

In an exercise of self-criticism, Kuri admitted errors in the operation of the stormwater infrastructure, especially in a sump that did not receive timely maintenance. “I must admit that I made a mistake, even though it was my people,” he declared.

The rains of February 5 highlighted the vulnerability of certain areas, so the governor assured that preventive actions and technical supervision will be strengthened to avoid future damage.

Regarding the second phase of the metropolitan project for Highway 57, Kuri reported that the Federal Government has already approved it, although confirmation of the financial resources for its execution is still awaited. “We have to wait to see how reliable it is and what resources will be available,” he stated.

He also announced that he will seek direct coordination with the new delegate of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation, in order to avoid congestion due to a lack of complementary works.

Collaboration with the Attorney General’s Office and Prudence in Dates

The governor reaffirmed his willingness to collaborate with the State Attorney General’s Office in all open investigations, including those arising from complaints against him. “I am happy to support the Attorney General’s Office,” he assured.

Finally, Kuri was cautious when speaking about execution times for pending projects. He said that, based on previous experience, estimates that cannot be met will be avoided.
