The night game in Querétaro changed on the night of Saturday, November 9, yes, agreed.

But stories were already being woven that we did not want or did not know how to relate.

The murder of two musicians after a concert at the Mezcalito in Centro Sur. Emiliano Cuevas Montiel, vocalist of the Guanajuato-based “Grupo Penumbre” and his accordionist David Noria. The band was singing narcocorridos and they were killed in the parking lot of the place. There were condolences even from the municipality of Villagrán, where they were from.

That was the early morning of October 4th.

A month earlier (September 7th), on the border with Guanajuato, near Balvanera, a commando tried to take the powerful businessman Jesús Calderón Reyes, who, surrounded by his security team, arrived wounded at the San José Hospital in his armored Rolls Royce and survived.

The violence of the groups that fight for control and money in Guanajuato (and Querétaro?), was growing. As were the expressions and adoration of the narcoculture.

On Thursday, November 7, a commando arrived at the premises that were being prepared to open the Mr Barbas branch in the Centro Sur, the successful Mazatec franchise of Agustín Munguía Carrión. There they killed three neighbors from Celaya, who were moving their seafood restaurant to this city.

In response, on the night of November 9, a group of three armed men carried out the worst massacre against civilians ever recorded in the state.

This collusion between some authorities and organized crime, splashed businessmen and lawyers. Like the company created to open Los Cantaritos, the place where 10 people were murdered.

With this purpose, Ref de Aces SA de CV was created, owned by Raúl Isaac “N”, a businessman in these businesses, known as El Mimoso and a team of powerful lawyers.

Today, this and other groups, with alleged links to officials, notaries, legislators, etc., are required by the Prosecutor’s Office to explain situations that are, to say the least, suspicious.

We were in that situation, or they were, when yesterday morning, the federal Secretary of Public Security, Omar García Harfuch, shed more light on the wave of violence that has shaken our land.

Before meeting with Governor Mauricio Kuri in Mexico City, the official reported from the morning conference: “We know that a person comes to ask the valet for a certain Fernando, two more enter the place and open fire directly; today we know that Fernando N, related to a criminal cell, dies and another person who could be linked to the cell dies, among the ten people who died. (…) It is a fact that has to do with Guanajuato, like the one that occurred on November 7, in a restaurant where three people lost their lives, it is a rivalry between two criminal cells.

“We are investigating together with the government of Querétaro, on instructions from the president today I meet with the governor, and we will keep you informed; there is progress in the investigation and we will be reporting. The governor is coming to Mexico and I’m going to see him here in the city.”

At the same time, a handful of nightclub owners are taking a risk, voluntarily closing down consumption centers with an undeniable vocation for drug culture. As I said, the game has changed, given the permissiveness of some authorities, businessmen and lawyers, who have swollen their pockets.

At what cost!
