As a preventive measure, communities from the municipality of Pinal de Amoles were evacuated due to the risk that a forest fire that occurs in the Sierra Gorda of the state of Querétaro could affect the populations.
“Given the serious situation caused by the forest fire that affects various communities in the municipality of Pinal de Amoles, the municipal government makes an urgent call to the population of El Ranchito and neighboring communities to evacuate immediately and follow the safety indications established by the authorities”, the city council reported.
According to the municipal authority, the fire has caused havoc in areas near the town of Durazno de San Francisco and Puerto Colorado, advancing rapidly due to strong winds, endangering the integrity of the inhabitants and their properties.
Civil protection personnel confirmed that the fire is still intensely active in different points of Loma Larga, El Durazno, Puerto Colorado, Otomites and advances towards Temazcales, la Hacienda Vieja and Mesas de San José, so the citizens were asked to be alert.
Derived from the seriousness of the incident, even the local citizens have been carrying water in tanks to try to stop the fire.
