From January to November 2025, Querétaro ranked ninth nationally among states with the fewest intentional homicides, with a total of 139 cases registered, according to Marcela Figueroa, head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
This figure represents 0.6% of the national average, estimated at 679.47 homicides during the same period.
The SESNSP report indicated that the states with the lowest incidence are Yucatán, with 28 homicides; Durango, with 56; Coahuila, with 73; Aguascalientes, with 95; Campeche, with 108; Tlaxcala, with 109; Baja California Sur, with 127; Zacatecas, with 137; and Querétaro, with 139. and Nayarit, with 176.
In the monthly analysis, November registered 12 intentional homicides in Querétaro, two more than in October, when 10 were reported.
With this, the state maintained low figures compared to the rest of the country, where the overall trend reflected moderate increases in several regions.
The Executive Secretariat also reported that 7 states accounted for 51% of the country’s intentional homicides: Guanajuato, Chihuahua, Baja California, Sinaloa, the State of Mexico, Guerrero, and Michoacán, in that order. These states have maintained high levels of lethal violence since previous administrations.
This assessment comes 14 months into the federal administration headed by Claudia Sheinbaum, a period in which the indicators show significant contrasts between regions, with north-central states like Querétaro, Coahuila, and Aguascalientes maintaining low levels of violence, compared to others that account for the majority of cases.
