The mayor of Querétaro, Felifer Macías, announced in a press conference that they will make important changes within the Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SSPM), with the objective of expanding and specializing the operational capabilities of this corporation. Among the main novelties, three new areas will be implemented within the SSPM: Civic Guard, Auxiliary Guard and Traffic Guard, which will be added to the already existing Municipal Guard.

These units will have as their main mission the prevention and deterrence of crime, as well as the development of proximity tactics, coordination and surveillance in various points of this municipality, not only in the center of the city, but also in the colonies, communities and neighborhoods further away from the Querétaro capital.

With this restructuring, it is expected to increase the police presence throughout the district by 35 percent, with the incorporation of 1,500 new specialized police officers, in just the next six months. This security reinforcement responds to the need to guarantee greater protection and peace of mind to citizens, strengthening surveillance and response capacity in the event of any criminal situation.

The mayor stressed that these new operational areas will be focused on providing a closer and more efficient service, creating ties with citizens to improve security in all corners of the municipality.
