London companies will set up in Querétaro

The Secretary of Sustainable Development, Marco Antonio del Prete Tercero, said that after the business tour that the Executive Branch of the state of Querétaro carried out at the Farnborough Aerospace Fair, there are three aerospace companies that are interested in setting up in Querétaro but that first they want to get to know the facilities and the state up close, so they would schedule an appointment to visit the Querétaro state.

Del Prete Tercero indicated that these companies are in the aerospace sector and that they are dedicated to manufacturing, coatings and a laboratory specialized in aviation issues, and that they are interested in coming to Querétaro.

“We had 45 work meetings, I personally was with three companies that are interested in setting up in Querétaro but first they want to come and get to know the state, one is an aerospace manufacturer, another makes coatings and another is a laboratory that develops articles for aviation, there may be more but we will have to review what the SEDESU team collected in the work meetings,” he said.

In addition to this, the Secretary of Sustainable Development pointed out that once the Querétaro Intercontinental Airport (AIQ) is certified to be a takeoff and landing space for spacecraft, there will be six companies from the aerospace cluster in England that would be interested in coming to Querétaro, since they were attracted by the horizontal takeoff project that the AIQ would have.

“I was able to personally speak with companies from the aerospace cluster in England and they were struck by the conditions that the airport could have once we achieve certification. There are six companies that are directly interested in this and that could come to Querétaro once we have certification,” he explained.

He pointed out that the vertical takeoff of spacecraft is very expensive and outdated, however, with the commitment to horizontal takeoff, it could open up the possibility that space work could be done in this way at the AIQ once it is certified; he pointed out that the AIQ could be the first airport in Latin America to have this certification.

“The horizontal takeoff for placing satellites in orbit works like the takeoff of an airplane; once it reaches a height of 10 thousand feet, the satellite is released by means of a rocket that allows it to reach the atmosphere and remain in orbit. It is something that interested them a lot and we could be the first airport in Latin America to have these takeoff facilities,” he said.
