The pilgrimage that has been carried out for 134 years by men and women who leave the state of Querétaro and walk to the Basilica of Guadalupe, Mexico City, this time made up of more than 53 thousand men and women, arrived at seven o’clock on Friday night in Tepotzotlán, where they will spend the night to continue their journey early on Saturday.
Crossing unpopulated mountain ranges, at times on the sides of the Mexico-Querétaro highway, the contingent of men and women, during the morning of this Friday, advanced through the north of the State of Mexico, crossed the municipalities of Jilotepec, Huehuetoca, Teoloyucan and this afternoon they arrived at this demarcation, where the local mayor, María de los Ángeles Zuppa Villegas, came out to welcome them.
The Bishop of Querétaro, Fidencio López Plaza, in a message posted on social media, among other comments, invited the members of the 134th pilgrimage to Tepeyac to learn to live the contemplative mystical fraternity to which the Pope repeatedly invites his parishioners.
Let the journey be to “be able to value each year our growth as children of God and as brothers. Fourth: to continue building the Sacred House in our hearts, our families, our parishes, in our Diocese and our country.”
“In this way we will better understand that the Church and Christian life is like a bicycle, if it does not walk it falls. Let no one steal from us the joy and beauty of walking together,” he concludes.
At least 25 thousand women make up the contingent that advances in front, followed by more than 28 thousand men, also, among the pilgrims, there are at least 2 thousand minors. Along the way, civil authorities provide support through municipal police, medical assistance and assign spaces for their rest and religious worship.
According to the schedule, they spend the night in Tepotzotlán, and at 4 they advance towards the neighboring municipality of Cuautitlán and from there they go down to Tlalnepantla, and spend the night in the San Rafael neighborhood.
