Querétaro hosts the 75th International Film Festival

A feast for all lovers of the seventh art, where films will be shown for free, starting this Sunday, at the Rosalío Solano Cinemateca.

In a collaboration between the Secretary of Culture of the State, that of the municipality of Querétaro and the National Cinematheque, from July 14 to August 4 the 75th edition of the International Film Festival will arrive at the Rosalío Solano Cineteca, with 13 films that They will be exhibited free of charge to the Queretaro public.

South Korea, Mexico, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Israel, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium, United States, Germany, Turkey, Pakistan, Norway, Spain, Argentina and Chile are the countries that represent the 13 productions that make up the sample.

Throughout the five decades that the National Cineteca has been fulfilling its mission, the International Film Festival has become a tradition among film buffs who hope to discover the most recent cinematographic proposals, endorsed by specialized critics and by the recognition of important festivals. international.

Through the views of directors who are beginning to forge a path within the film industry, each film delves into various historical, sociopolitical, identity, rebellion, liberation, and social dynamics that create contemporary contexts from which cinema is spokesperson.

The exhibition begins on July 14th, with the film Little Fish, by Joong Ha Park, from South Korea; On July 16, the Mexican production Valentina o la serenidad, directed by Oaxacan Ángeles Cruz, will be screened; On the 17th it is the turn of Mal vivir, from Portugal and France, directed by João Canijo; On the 18th, in the United States, it will be the turn of The Master Gardener, by director Paul Schrader.

While on Friday, July 19, the film Inner Fire: Requiem for Katia and Maurice Krafft, from the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and the United States, will be screened, under the direction of Werner Herzog; On July 21, from Israel and Ukraine, Valeria Comes to Get Married, directed by Michal Vinik, will be shown, and on the 23rd, The Green Border, by Agnieszka Holland, a production from Poland, France, the Czech Republic and Belgium, will be screened.

On July 28, moviegoers will be able to see Joyland: the land of dreams, a production from Pakistan and the United States, directed by Saim Sadiq; On the 30th, from France and directed by Catherine Breillat, Guilt and Desire will be shown, and the classic Azul, from the Three Colors trilogy, produced by France, Poland and Switzerland, directed by Krzysztof Kieslowski, will be screened on the 31st.

In the case of the film that represents Mexico, Valentina o la serenidad, produced in 2023 with a duration of 86 minutes, it is the second feature film by Ángeles Cruz, which is articulated as an essay on grief, loss and resilience in the childhoods of his community, thus resuming the long work of activism that he has carried out in defense of cultural identity, the fight for land and the preservation of traditions of indigenous communities.

The Rosalío Solano Cinematheque, located on 16 de Septiembre Street, number 44, in the Historic Center of the capital of Querétaro, will give performances at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., with free admission.
