It’s a place where you can discover the ‘spirit’ and essence of a city.”

Get to know San Francisco Anbanica, Querétaro’s new magical neighborhood

In the framework of the International Tianguis of Magical Towns in San Antonio, Texas, San Francisco Anbanica, from the municipality of Corregidora, received the designation as Magic Neighborhood from Miguel Torruco Marqués.

This recognition was awarded to Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, Tourism Secretary of Querétaro, who highlighted the importance of this designation for diversifying the tourist offer and bringing economic benefits to more Queretano families.

San Francisco Anbanica is located near the Cerrito Archaeological Zone, a place where indigenous traditions and Catholic rituals have converged since the 16th century.

This neighborhood offers a unique blend of tourist attractions and cultural offerings, such as the Pyramid of Cerrito and its on-site museum, the Gran Cué Plaza, and the Anbanica Museum, located in the heart of the municipality.

Additionally, new attractions like giant letters and a monumental bull, along with an impressive video mapping of the pyramid, have been added.

What to see in San Francisco Anbanica, Querétaro’s new magical neighborhood?

The Anbanica History Museum in Corregidora is a must-visit for those who want to learn about the glorious past of Querétaro.

This museum, located in the old municipal office opposite the Main Garden of El Pueblito, houses a rich collection of historical artifacts, including mammoth tusks found in the region. It also offers temporary exhibitions by local artists and weekly community activities.

The Pyramid of Cerrito, known for its pyramidal base that appears like a natural formation from a distance, was an important ceremonial center influenced by various cultures, especially the Toltec.

This archaeological site, located seven kilometers from the historic center of Querétaro, is one of the most important pre-Hispanic sites in central Mexico.

The Pyramid of Cerrito is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, with an entrance fee of $75.00 pesos. Smoking, bringing food, and pets are prohibited. To get there, you can take the Constituyentes Boulevard from Querétaro and follow the signs to the municipal head of Corregidora. It is also accessible by public transportation.
