During the last quarter of 2023, the “Cook of the Year, Mexico” contest will take place in Querétaro, where the state will receive participants and visitors from Mexico City, Hidalgo, Guanajuato and Michoacán.

This was announced by the head of the State Secretary of Tourism (SECTUR), Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, within the framework of the Tianguis Turístico in Mexico City, where she added that Querétaro will host the semifinal phase of this gastronomic event.

“As part of the program of this important contest, there will be master classes and conferences at no cost for attendees, and of course, the contest where chefs will have to compete in interesting competitions to get the finalists,” she explained.

In addition, the secretary pointed out that the “National Contest of Pinchos and Tapas of Valladolid”, Spain, will be held in Querétaro, a gastronomic event which it is intended to position the state internationally, due to the popularity of these Iberian dishes.

The contest will be held in the month of September, which has the support and direct participation of the National Chamber of Seasoned Foods (CANIRAC) and already has a web page, where professional chefs from all over the country can register.

“There will be a jury made up of renowned international chefs, such as Chef Toño González, owner of the Los Zagales restaurant in Valladolid, Spain, who has won the Spanish National Contest on several occasions,” she explained.

According to the state official, whoever wins this contest will have the right to participate in the Pinchos and Tapas World Cup, which takes place every year in the province of Valladolid.
