The private company that began the construction of a hotel in the protected natural area of Peña de Bernal will receive a sanction, stated the head of the Secretary of Sustainable Development (SEDESU) of the state of Querétaro, Marco del Prete Tercero.
The decision came after the work was temporarily closed on Tuesday for not having the consent of the relevant authorities in areas of environmental impact, nor in accordance with the Management Program issued by SEDESU.
He indicated that after the closure, the private party has five days to present the requested documents, which he does not have, recalled del Prete, so at the end of the period he will receive the sanctions determined by the State Attorney for Environmental Protection and Urban Development (PEPMADU).
The state official added that by locating the hotel in a protected natural area, it will not be subject to any kind of permit.
He pointed out that the current administration will not authorize construction on protected natural areas, nor on ecological protection zones. He ended by warning that no one is above the law.
