Eric Gudiño Torres, Secretary of Government of Querétaro, urged citizens to take precautions following the announcement of blockades in all 32 states of the country by the Mexican Alliance of Transportation Organizations (AMOTAC).
He indicated that blockades are expected in Querétaro on Federal Highway 57, near Palmillas and El Papanoa, and advised those traveling to Mexico City or other states to plan accordingly.
Gudiño Torres stated that the truckers’ demands stem from agreements reached with the Federal Government, which, according to the organization, have not been followed up on.
“They have held working sessions with the Federal Government; in other words, this demonstration is a result of the lack of agreements, according to our reports, with the Federal Government. They are demanding greater security on highways, protesting excessive towing fees, and addressing the backlog in regularization procedures,” he explained.
He mentioned that at the local level they have indeed engaged in dialogue with the organization and assured that the requests they have submitted to the State Government have been addressed.
