Querétaro now boasts a new art gallery showcasing works by local artists. The new center is located not in El Marqués or Corregidora, but in the Civic Center.
The space, inaugurated on April 15, 2026, will feature works by local artists.
The art space is located on the ground floor of the municipal government building (Prolongación Bernardo Quintana 10000, Centro Sur). The pieces displayed there engage with the city’s landscape and daily life through the glass walls.
The same space houses a public piano from the Insitu Piano project, which is also part of the cultural intervention of the area.
The gallery will function as an extension of the Rosario Sánchez de Lozada Municipal Gallery, located in the Historic Center of Querétaro, after one of its rooms was repurposed for selling handicrafts.
The gallery was inaugurated on April 15, 2026. Oaxacan artist Víctor López, who is currently exhibiting one of his works in this space, participated in the opening. Titled “Echo in Memory,” the work evokes his grandparents and his place of origin.
“In my memory is the imprint of the days we spent traversing the mountains. Inspired by this memory, each furrow carved with a gouge emerges, like a plow in the earth; I prepare my plates awaiting the harvest, a tribute to my people and to the women and men of the mountains,” López states in the text for the new gallery in Querétaro.
Víctor López is a Mexican audiovisual artist specializing in printmaking, with over 16 years of experience promoting this art form in the city.
Throughout his artistic career, he has exhibited solo works at the Regional Museum of Querétaro and the Rosario Sánchez de Lozada Municipal Gallery. He has participated in more than 70 group exhibitions in Mexico, Uruguay, Spain, Sweden, Estonia, and the United States.
In 2017, he created a mural in Tallinn, Estonia, as part of the centenary celebrations of its independence. More recently, in 2021, he was part of the Boundless Space exhibition and auction at Sotheby’s New York.
He has been selected for competitions such as the 11th Alfredo Zalce National Biennial of Painting and Printmaking. He is a founding member of the La Madriguera Gráfica Collective-Workshop and the Víctor López Gallery House, where he promotes contemporary printmaking through residencies, exhibitions, and collaborations.
