The state of Querétaro has reaffirmed its position as one of Mexico’s most important tourist destinations, receiving thousands of visitors throughout the year. But what are the most popular sites among visitors?
The Historic Center of Querétaro, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts millions of people annually thanks to its colonial architecture, emblematic plazas, and iconic aqueduct. The state capital is not only the cultural engine of the region but was also recently recognized internationally as one of the best cities to visit in 2026, solidifying its appeal to both domestic and international tourists.
According to official figures from the Querétaro State Tourism Secretariat (SECTUR), under the leadership of Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado, the state closed 2025 with a record-breaking 24.2 million visitors.
In addition to the capital, other tourist attractions have significantly contributed to this boom. The Peña de Bernal, located in the municipality of Ezequiel Montes, remains the second most important attraction, receiving approximately one million tourists a year who seek to conquer the third largest monolith in the world.
