The state of Querétaro will present the “Querétaro at Los Pinos” festival on April 18 and 19 at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, with a program that integrates music, dance, theater, crafts, and gastronomy, with the goal of promoting Querétaro’s cultural identity nationwide.
The state’s Secretary of Culture, Ana Paola López Birlain, emphasized that this event brings together expressions that originate from the communities and strengthen the social fabric. “Querétaro at Los Pinos brings together music, crafts, dance, theater, and food culture that originate from our communities, in a space for encounter that allows us to share identity and tradition. This effort is the result of teamwork and collaboration, based on the conviction that culture also builds dialogue, community, and peace,” she stated.
For her part, the Federal Secretary of Culture, Claudia Curiel de Icaza, underscored the festival’s value in recognizing communities as bearers of knowledge. “Querétaro at Los Pinos recognizes Indigenous peoples and communities as bearers of memory, knowledge, and living creativity, and brings the public closer to languages, music, dances, culinary traditions, and crafts that give continuity to Mexico’s cultural history,” he stated.
The program includes musical performances such as Las Perlitas Queretanas, Corazón de la Sierra, and the Tolimán Community Choir Thuju Ne Njohya, as well as theatrical performances like the play “American Dream: A History of Migration and Hope” and a dance performance by the Folkloric Company of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ). Book presentations and documentary screenings exploring the region’s identity and traditions will also be featured.
The festival will also offer a gastronomic showcase with traditional dishes and local products, along with spaces for selling handicrafts and workshops such as papier-mâché and traditional doll making, with the participation of artisans and producers from various municipalities in the state.
