The organizing committee of the Pride and Dignity March announced that the LGBTTIQ+ march, celebrating its tenth anniversary, will take place on June 13th of this year. This year’s theme is “A Decade of Struggle for Equality, a Decade of Pride and Dignity.”

At a press conference, members of the organizing committee stated that they expect at least a similar turnout to last year’s event, which drew approximately 10,000 people.

Yari Saavedra explained that this march for dignity has “established itself as a fundamental space for making sexual and gender diversity visible in our state, as well as for demanding the full realization of our rights. While we acknowledge significant progress in human rights, such as the legal recognition of our unions, it is also important to point out that we still face numerous challenges.” Among these, she highlighted the need to guarantee the right to gender identity and access to health, education, and justice services free from discrimination. Therefore, “this march is not only a meeting place, but also a form of peaceful and collective demonstration to continue moving towards a more just, egalitarian, and violence-free society,” she concluded.

A commemorative poster is created for each march. This year’s poster is by Rosario Pérez Martínez. The illustrator explained that her inspiration came from the identity of the people she sees dominating the city streets. “I would like them to have our shapes, our colors.” The illustration includes people of all ages. It also represents a family march “because there are now diverse families. And the rainbow flag—that couldn’t be missing, because it encompasses all possible identities,” the artist concluded.

The activities will begin at the Jardín Guerrero at noon, where an LGBT market featuring community businesses will be held. HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B testing will also be offered as part of the commitment to health. The march is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM and will proceed through the streets and avenues of the Historic Center, culminating in Plaza Fundadores with a cultural event featuring local artists.

As in previous years, the march will be led by the deaf LGBT+ community and people with reduced mobility, followed by other groups and civil society organizations, including LGBTI+ families and children.
