Do you have some sneakers you no longer wear that are still good? Don’t throw them away! They might be useful to someone, and you can donate them to those who don’t have suitable running shoes. It’s important that they’re clean and not torn, so you can support these runners. Many of them are recovering from addictions, so they’ve found a way to do so through sports.

The Querétaro Marathon is the most important sporting competition in our state, but it’s also the perfect excuse to support those most in need. One way to do so is by donating the sneakers you’ve been running in for a while and decided to trade in for new ones. This way, you’ll give someone who doesn’t have the necessary resources the opportunity to have appropriate footwear for the sport they love, just like you.

The organizers of this sporting event, together with the Miles de Pasos Association, have once again launched this initiative so that all runners participating in the Querétaro Marathon can help those most in need. They emphasized that last year they received a very positive response from the community, and they hope that this year, many participants will also be able to donate their running shoes through the campaign “Donate the running shoes you no longer use.”

This donation can be made by the athletes themselves at the Querétaro Congress Center during the kit distribution event, which will take place on October 3rd and 4th, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. They emphasized that the goal is to surpass the achievements of the previous edition, where more than 250 pairs of running shoes were collected and given to young people undergoing rehabilitation at institutions such as Luz de Vida IAP, which was one of the beneficiaries last year with 44 pairs.

The requirement for donating used sneakers is that they are not broken or have very worn soles, so they can still be used for a while. Runners are also asked to ensure that if they are donating shoes to this worthy cause, they are clean and, in some cases, disinfected, so they can be used as soon as possible. Remembering that, in some cases, last year’s beneficiaries would have been participating in this sporting event.

The Miles de Pasos Association reiterated that the goal of launching this type of initiative, and even more so at an event as important as Sunday’s, is to continue promoting sports among children and young people, with the aim of restoring the social fabric and encouraging people to practice sports. This will also promote healthier lifestyles among the population of our state, in addition to helping those most in need.
