LG Innotek will open a new production center in Querétaro, investing 3.5 billion pesos.
At this plant, the Korean manufacturer will produce cameras, LEDs, motors, and automotive components, the Querétaro state government confirmed in a press release.
The factory will be located in the Kaizen Industrial Park in Colón, a municipality located in the center-west of Querétaro. In the first phase, it will incorporate 630 employees.
The investment was announced after company executives met with local authorities.
Through a video, Governor Mauricio Kuri González announced that the company plans to increase the workforce at this plant.
“They’re going to invest close to 3.5 billion pesos. The first part of the plant will have more than 600 employees. They tell me they want to grow that much sooner and will continue to increase employment. In Querétaro, we know that the best social program is employment, bringing in these kinds of world-renowned companies. Here in Querétaro, we have the best talent,” he said.
The new investment will add to the firm’s operations in the state, as it operates a plant in San Juan del Río, where it employs 600 people.
LG manufactures electronic components and materials for various industries, including automotive, mobile devices, consumer electronics, and the Internet of Things. It specializes in technologies such as camera modules, displays, semiconductors, and automotive lighting solutions.
LG’s new project adds to the investments made in the state. Meanwhile, Querétaro has a portfolio of nearly 50 investment projects, according to the Ministry of Sustainable Development.
