Which streets will have road closures for Querétaro’s 494th anniversary?
In commemoration of the 494th anniversary of the founding of Santiago de Querétaro, the municipal government announced road closures in the first area of the Historic Center.
As part of the operation, the restrictions will apply from this Friday, July 25th, to next Sunday, July 27th.
This weekend, the road closures will be in effect from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM and will primarily affect the streets surrounding Plaza Fundadores.
This area will be the center of the main celebrations for Querétaro’s 494th anniversary.
According to the City Council, the following streets will remain closed to vehicle traffic during the festivities:
5 de Mayo Street, from Manuel Gutiérrez Nájera Street
Felipe Luna Street, to its intersection with Independencia Street
Independence Street, to Doctor Leopoldo Río de la Loza Street
Manuel Acuña Street, to Ignacio Zaragoza Street
Due to the closures, the municipal government recommended that motorists avoid driving in the area during established hours, as well as leave early and use alternate routes.
Why will there be traffic closures in Querétaro?
The road closures will allow for the installation of stages, technical equipment, and safe access areas for attendees of the various events that will be held to commemorate Querétaro’s 494th anniversary.
Authorities also seek to facilitate pedestrian access and avoid risks during the mass events, so personnel from various departments will be available to guide motorists.
