The event includes artistic performances, culinary exhibitions, and a varied selection of regional handicrafts.
With the participation of Querétaro artists and the sale of traditional products, the event pays tribute to the traditions and women who keep the customs of their state alive.
This weekend, “Querétaro in Los Pinos” brings the best of the state’s traditions, music, cuisine, and handicrafts to Mexico City. The multidisciplinary event invites audiences of all ages to explore and celebrate Querétaro’s rich heritage at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex.
The event was welcomed by Elisa Lemus Cano, director of the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, who emphasized the importance of opening the venue to share Mexico’s cultural diversity.
“Querétaro invites us to learn more about its living traditions, its artisans, its music, and, of course, its incredible cuisine. This event is a window into the history and future of Querétaro, which remains true to its roots while embracing innovation,” commented Lemus Cano during her participation in the inauguration.
In turn, Querétaro’s Secretary of Culture, Ana Paola López-Birlay, emphasized that the state’s presence at the Official Residence of the People of Mexico is a tribute to Indigenous women, fundamental pillars in the preservation and transmission of the state’s traditions.
“It is an honor to be here and to be able to share the best of Querétaro with all of you. This space not only allows us to showcase our cultural richness, but also to pay tribute to Indigenous women, who are the guardians of our legacy,” said López-Birlay.
The Art of Huasteca and Traditional Flavors
After the formalities, the celebration began with the vibrant notes of the violin, jarana, and guitar of the huapango trio “Las Flores de las Huastecas.” One of its members, maestro Patricia Camacho Martínez, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to share a piece of her homeland with the audience in the nation’s capital.
“The huapango is the soul of our region, a reflection of our history and our roots. Today, we invite you to enjoy this music that fills us with pride.”
In addition to music and dance, the “Querétaro en Los Pinos” event offers a delicious culinary showcase at the Cencalli Smoke Kitchens. Attendees can sample dishes such as cracked corn gorditas, edible flower tacos, empulcado rabbit, and shrimp cakes with nopales, reflecting the diversity of ingredients and culinary traditions of the state, which is part of the Huasteca region.
The El Solar Market, for its part, is where artisans from the state exhibit products such as Lele dolls, textiles made on a backstrap loom, clay and palm pieces, and regional wines, all created with the dedication and effort of those who have preserved these traditions for generations.
An invitation to discover Mexico
Those who attend—today, Saturday the 12th, and tomorrow, Sunday, April 13, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex—will find theater performances for children, choral ensembles, singing in the Ñañho language, among other activities, as a demonstration of the linguistic vitality of the region.
It is worth noting that Querétaro is the second entity in the country this year to visit the Cultural Complex as part of the “LosEstadosenLosPinos” initiative; access to the Official Residence of the People of Mexico is provided to a sample of our country’s cultures; and in 2025 the curatorship is dedicated to the Year of the Indigenous Woman.
