Google Cloud has announced the opening of its new cloud region in Querétaro.
“At Google Cloud, we are pleased to announce the opening of our 41st cloud region in Querétaro, Mexico, which is now operational,” the company said in a statement.
This opening marks its third cloud region in Latin America, joining Santiago de Chile and São Paulo, Brazil. The company says that from Querétaro it will provide “fast and reliable cloud services to companies and public sector organizations throughout Mexico and around the world. Our new region offers low latency, high performance, and local data residency, allowing organizations to innovate and accelerate digital transformation initiatives.”
In 2022, Google announced a five-year, $1.2 billion commitment to Latin America, focused on four key areas: digital infrastructure, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and inclusive and sustainable communities.
As a result of this new region, the increase in cloud adoption and the productivity it provides is expected to generate more than 100,000 jobs and contribute more than $11 billion to Mexico’s GDP by 2030.
For its part, the public sector has a clear objective of promoting digital transformation in Mexico by building a digital government that leverages technology for better decision-making and use of resources. With the goal of continuing to advance in this important innovation effort, Google welcomes the new Google Cloud region in Querétaro, Mexico.
“The new Google Cloud region in Mexico will be key to building a digital government responsible to citizens, deepening our path towards digital transformation. Since 2018, the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF) has been a pioneer in digital transformation in Mexico, promoting innovation and the responsible use of technology, while using advanced technologies such as Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, among other proprietary tools, to improve data analysis, automate processes and improve collaboration. This allows for more accurate decision-making, optimized oversight of public spending, greater inspection coverage and guarantees transparent use of resources,” said Emilio Barriga Delgado, special auditor of federalized spending at the Superior Audit Office of the Federation (ASF).
Likewise, this opening becomes an opportunity for global companies looking to take advantage of the Mexican market.
“The powerful collaboration between Google Cloud and Palo Alto Networks has the industry-leading SASE solution for customers in Mexico, which provides unparalleled levels of security, performance and resilience. By securely harnessing the power of the cloud, businesses can accelerate innovation, increase efficiency and improve customer experiences. Our joint commitment to security and innovation enables organizations to embrace the AI-driven future with confidence, knowing that their users, data and applications are protected from evolving and emerging threats,” said Anupam Upadhyaya, vice president of product management, Palo Alto Networks.
