Alejandra Iturbide, Secretary of Tourism for the Municipality of Querétaro, reported that by the end of July, there had been an arrival of 141,400 overnight tourists, which translates into a hotel occupancy of 65%, an increase of 2% compared to the same period last year.

She pointed out that this tourist boom has generated an economic spillover of 374 million pesos, significantly benefiting the local economy.

The municipal official highlighted that these positive results reflect the success of the tourism promotion strategies implemented by the public administration.

She said that the combination of cultural events, the attractiveness of historical sites and the gastronomic offer have been key to attracting a greater number of visitors.

“The city of Querétaro is consolidating itself as a first-class tourist destination, offering a complete experience that includes history, culture and modernity,” she stressed.

She mentioned that the forecast for the end of the holiday period remains optimistic and it is expected that, by August 25, hotel occupancy will reach 70%, driven by the influx of 210,000 overnight tourists.

This could generate an estimated economic spillover of 850 million pesos.

“There are still many families enjoying their vacations, and with some schools yet to start classes, we believe that these numbers will continue to increase,” explained the official.
