From August 18 to 21, the first State Theater Congress will be held in Querétaro, with 20 scheduled activities, including four free theater performances.
The event, supported by the State Secretariat of Culture (SECULT), has as its motto “Good practices between performing artists and culture of peace.”
Organized by Cecilia Elvira García Frías, liaison of the National Congress of Theater Mexico (CONATEM) in Querétaro, the congress seeks to promote the culture of peace through art and theater.
This event will offer a space for training and professional development, using theater as a tool for conflict resolution and the formation of healthy societies.
The congress will begin on August 18 at the Mexican Social Security Institute Theater with the inauguration and the Stage Design Workshop. Starting on August 19, the activities will move to the Querétaro Arts Center (CEART).
The day will include a conference by the Network of Teachers for a Culture of Peace of the Autonomous University of Querétaro, roundtables on Gender Protocol in performing arts and Regulations of good practices and codes of conduct, as well as the discussion on Artistic Creation, Merchandising and Theatre. The day will conclude with the presentation of the play “Tejedoras” by La Mirruña Teatro.
On August 20, the workshop Marketing for artists will be offered, followed by roundtables and the discussion School of Spectators. The day will end with the play “Niñas de guerra” by the Central de Cultura, Educación y Teatro.
On August 21, the last day of the congress, it will begin with the conference Inclusion, let’s talk about community theatre and specific audiences.
Afterwards, the conclusions of the roundtables will be presented, and the discussion Ethics in the artistic professions will be held. The congress will conclude with the play “What do you understand by love?” by Garito de los Emulantes.
