Criminal group “Commando X” announces “clean-up” in San Juan del Rio, Queretaro

Grupo criminal “Comando X” anuncia “limpia” en San Juan del Río, Querétaro

A criminal group announced on Wednesday the beginning of a “clean-up” in the municipality of San Juan del Río, Querétaro, a message that was posted on a poster next to a human head.

“The clean-up of the Jalisco people has begun, we will not allow our beautiful town to be filled with scum” was posted in the message attributed on the poster to “Command X”.

The Municipal Public Security Secretariat confirmed the discovery of human remains on a country road that leads to the community of San Germán, San Juan del Río, as well as the existence of a message with threats.

However, despite the fact that the announcement is directed to the population of San Juan del Río about the “clean-up” in this municipality, the Security Secretariat, headed by Ángel Rangel Nieves, indicated that the groups operate in Hidalgo.

“…elements of this corporation went to a country road that leads to the community of San Germán, locating human remains with a message of threats from an alleged criminal group to another with operations to steal hydrocarbons in the state of Hidalgo.”

The cardboard can be seen burned in part of the message, in photos obtained by local reporters, but it is possible to distinguish in the message addressed to the people of San Juan the clarification that: “The war is not with good people or the government.”

The Municipal Security Secretariat of San Juan del Río reported that it has requested the intervention of the investigating authorities so that they take note and begin the corresponding investigations.

San Juan in dispute

Only in January of this year were the remains of nine people tied up and gagged located and even, newspaper reports indicated that all had gunshot wounds.

That event was recorded three days after the discovery, in the Queretaro capital, of the body of another person with the message written on a banner: “Mr. Mencho’s order is to clean up.”

In addition, in San Juan del Río, during 2023 high-impact homicides also occurred in the municipality of Querétaro, such as on December 1 when two people were decapitated and their limbs abandoned in coolers in a neighborhood in the northwest of the state capital.

In his campaign for his current term, PAN mayor Roberto Cabrera Valencia offered “a safer San Juan” and to improve the perception of objective and subjective security.
