A viral video on social media shows an impressive storm that hit Querétaro, causing floods in some areas.
On Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, an intense storm struck the state of Querétaro. The video, shared on the @Grabadosdeluz account on X (formerly Twitter), captures the moment when this meteorological phenomenon arrived in the entity.
The author of the images reported that it was a tornado and recorded the footage in the Menchaca neighborhood, in the capital of Querétaro.
The timelapse camera shows how dark clouds start to gather and the sky turns dark. Some comments on the video included: “Unbelievable how the rain spreads and ‘closes’! Oh wow, it started raining like this out of nowhere!” and “Excellent timelapse, very good shot!!”
Querétaro Storm Leaves Multiple Floods
The storm was registered during the afternoon of Tuesday and, according to local media, mainly affected the southern and central areas of the capital city of Querétaro, as well as parts of the municipalities of Corregidora and El Marqués.
Despite the intensity of the rains, only flooding occurred at sidewalk level or above in the western part of the city.
However, the greatest impacts were seen in the conurbated area of the Corregidor municipality, where several avenues, including the Tlacote highway, ended up flooded.
According to Diario Querétaro, the main affected areas included colonies and neighborhoods such as Puerta Real, El Pueblito, Paseo del Jacal, Santuarios del Pueblito, and the Zapata Sports Unit.
Additionally, there were floodings with impacts in the La Joya neighborhood near Querétaro, as well as in the Santa María Magdalena community.
In response to this situation, State and Municipal Civil Protection Coordination made an appeal to citizens to stay informed about updates and follow the instructions of authorities to ensure their safety.
