The State Tourism Secretariat held the presentation of the second Mexican tapas and pintxos contest, which will take place on September 20 and 21, as well as the first contest of the Americas, which will take place on September 22, in the Guerrero Garden of the City of Querétaro, where winemakers, brewers, cheese makers, producers and artisans will meet to offer their products to the public.
The director of Tourism Promotion of the Tourism Secretariat, Rodrigo Ibarra Lozano, highlighted that with the celebration of the contests, which are completely open to the public and free of charge, the state reaffirms its vocation as a gastronomic destination par excellence.
It should be noted that both announced contests are the only ones recognized and linked to the World Tapas Championship of Valladolid, Spain.
The contest will receive 32 national participants, from among whom the winner will be chosen to take the national representation to the World Tapas Championship, which is held annually in Spain.
There will also be 14 participants from the American Continent, from among whom will be chosen the three representatives of this continent in the World Tapas Championship that will be held in the city of Valladolid, on November 13.
It is important to note that there will be a jury made up of renowned chefs and figures of national and international gastronomy, such as Mikel Alonso, Juantxo Sánchez, Eduardo Palazuelos, Benito Molina, Olivia González, Guy Santoro, José Miguel García, David Quevedo, Juan Emilio Villaseñor and Nahum Velasco.
It was noted that these events will be the opportunity to reaffirm the vocation of the state as a destination for gastronomic tourism, since the restaurant industry is a fundamental driver for economic development.
