Crime Incidence Decreases in Querétaro


Since 2021, there has been a noticeable downward trend in crime incidence levels in the Querétaro region.

According to the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, reported criminal incidents in Querétaro during the first four months of 2024 have decreased compared to previous years.

This year, in particular, has seen a decline in the number of reported crimes, contrasting with the upward trend observed since 2015. Although there were declines in 2018 and 2019, followed by increases in 2020 and 2021 (attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic), the overall trend had been upward until the current year, 2024.

Regarding family-related crimes, specifically cases of non-compliance with family assistance obligations, data shows a slight decrease in the number of reported cases during the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period in the previous year. While 265 cases were reported in 2023, the figure has reduced to 263 in 2024.

In 2022, 250 cases were reported, while in 2021, the figure was 178. The pandemic-affected year of 2020 saw 217 cases, and in 2019, there were 208. In 2018, 254 cases were reported, followed by 274 in 2017, 263 in 2016, and 262 cases in 2015.

Regarding the annual incidence of this crime, there is fluctuation in the number of reported cases over the years. In 2023, a total of 844 cases were recorded, while in 2022, there number was 735. In 2021, the figure was 549, contrasting with 555 cases reported in 2020. In 2019, 697 cases were reported, and in 2018, 663. In 2017, the number reached 848 cases, followed by 829 in 2016, and 812 cases in 2015.
