Querétaro International Airport Initiates Certification for Space Flights

The Querétaro International Airport (AIQ) has begun the certification process to host space flights, confirmed by the Secretary of Sustainable Development, Marco Prete Tercero.

This certification is sought by the Querétaro International Airport due to interest from an American company.

Issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the certification will enable the creation of a space business model.

The certification process is expected to last one year, depending on the submission of documents, as estimated by Prete Tercero.

This will position Querétaro as a significant player for international companies within the aerospace industry.

Lastly, he recalled that during a tour with Governor Mauricio Kuri in the United States, they encountered a ‘Space Port’ project where spacecraft will take off like airplanes instead of vertically.
