Canadian company presents passenger train project for Querétaro-SLP route

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport, Jorge Nuño Lara, reported that the companies interested in the passenger train project are Grupo México-Ferrosur, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), of which their proposals are being analyzed.

At the morning press conference of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the federal official announced that they received letters from both Grupo México and Canadian Pacific Kansas City.

“They established the routes, we are analyzing the letters, all were positive, we are asking them for some clarifications, as soon as we finish closing with them, next week we will have a much more precise statement for them,” he said.

Nuño Lara referred that the possible routes are Mexico-Querétaro, Querétaro-León, León-Aguascalientes, as well as to Guadalajara, and another from Querétaro to San Luis Potosí, among others.

“We would be preparing the studies to be able to build them later. But it is very interesting that they are responding and there are 18 thousand kilometers of rights of way that will be used for passenger trains,” he said.
