Cable car project in Querétaro would be left for the next administration: Kuri

The cable car project will be left pending until the next state administration provides budgetary support to the municipality of Querétaro, Governor Mauricio Kuri indicated.

He emphasized that he considers it unlikely that this project could be carried out during the current municipal and state administrations due to funding issues.

“I believe this would be more appropriate for the next six-year term. Financially, it is impossible for us to support it at this time, but I think it is a great project that we have seen work well in Mexico City, for example,” he mentioned.

He emphasized that this project would improve mobility for people living in the higher elevations of the municipality of Querétaro, from San José el Alto to Plaza del Parque.

“It would help a great deal, especially senior citizens who live throughout that higher area of Querétaro,” he stated.

He also highlighted that with the mechanisms for citizen participation, the population can now be consulted about the projects that the state government aspires to implement.

It should be noted that Mayor Felipe Macías announced that consultations with residents of the Epigmenio González district regarding this project will take place this summer.

This project is being developed jointly by the municipality of Querétaro and the State Mobility Agency.

Governor Mauricio Kuri also mentioned that 21 requests were presented at the meeting he held with mobility groups, which will be reviewed.

“I think there were many, more than 21 specific requests. Some of them will impact our budget a bit, but we’ll have to see how we can address them. And we’re also looking at issues such as public transportation, where we acknowledge there has been progress,” he stated.
