The state coordinator of the corporation, Ricardo Meléndrez Cervantes, acknowledged the operations of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel and the CJNG in the state, primarily in border areas.

The state coordinator of the National Guard in Querétaro, Ricardo Meléndrez Cervantes, acknowledged the presence of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in Querétaro territory, particularly in areas near the border with Guanajuato.

The federal official explained that both criminal groups have been identified by security authorities as part of the organizations operating in the region.

“It’s the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel with a presence on the border with the state (…) and the Jalisco Cartel, which also has a presence in the state in some areas,” he stated.

Meléndrez Cervantes specified that several of the violent incidents recently recorded in Querétaro are related to groups originating from Guanajuato.

“There are very specific incidents, like what happened in Corregidora last month, but these are also caused by groups from Guanajuato,” he commented.

Despite this, the state coordinator maintained that Querétaro has better security conditions than other states in the country and asserted that he feels safe in the state.
