It is estimated that only 40% of real estate agents operating in Querétaro have the required license, stated Guadalupe Zarazúa, president of the Querétaro Association of Real Estate Agencies.

She explained that approximately 1,800 real estate agent licenses have been issued in the state this year. These licenses serve to identify individuals working in the sector and ensure they have the necessary information to respond to clients.

“It is a task that all real estate associations share: to encourage our members to train and prepare themselves, and above all, to be easily identifiable. This way, those working in urban development, who know how to find them, can easily locate them if any issues arise,” she said.

She emphasized the need for further professionalization of real estate agents in the state and for them to obtain their licenses. The law regulating real estate agents and companies in the state stipulates that they must obtain their licenses from the Ministry of Urban Development and Public Works.

He emphasized that the real estate traffic light system could also include information on whether real estate agents hold a state urban development license, so that the public can seek professional advice when buying a home.

Currently, the state’s Secretariat of Urban Development and Public Works maintains a registry of real estate agents and companies, which can be used to check their registration status.

Only the name and municipality where they operate are required to verify their registration with the state government.

This license is valid for five years in the state, after which it can be renewed. If it is lost, a replacement process is available.
