Municipal, state, and federal authorities implemented the DNIII Plan as preventive measures in the central area of Tequisquiapan, given the risk of flooding caused by the Centenario Dam’s overflow, which exceeded 100 percent of its capacity on Saturday night.
Mayor Héctor Magaña confirmed that he implemented an evacuation operation in the hotel zone and approximately seven other locations at risk, causing hundreds of people to be evacuated.
According to Arturo Galindo, state coordinator of the PC, the dam is at 83% of its storage capacity, and rain is expected through Saturday.
This is intended to safeguard the safety of guests, workers, visitors, and residents.
These measures are part of the response and prevention protocols for the potential risk of flooding in the municipality’s central area.
He also reported that the brigades maintain a presence at strategic points and are working jointly with Civil Protection and other support agencies.
Citizen Support Requested
Authorities urged the public and tourists to remain alert to official information and follow instructions if necessary.
They also set up a shelter to provide care to those in need.
