The secondary and tertiary sectors could generate an economic impact of 3.5 billion pesos through the Querétaro 2025 Industrial and Commercial Expo-Encuentro.

With the goal of promoting local suppliers, the 21st edition of the event, which connects supply and demand, will be held from September 3 to 5.

At the Querétaro Congress Center (QCC), 6,400 square meters of exhibition space will be deployed for more than 300 industrial companies; three pavilions have been set up: industrial, commercial, and technological.

The B2B business meeting will also be held during those days, with 60 purchasing companies participating. More than 7,000 people are expected to attend over the three days.

On the third day of the event, September 5, a job fair will be held, with 38 companies offering 1,000 vacancies, said Marco Antonio Del Prete Tercero, Secretary of Sustainable Development (Sedesu).

Through the expo, he said, they seek to bring companies’ needs closer to suppliers, impacting micro, small, medium, and large businesses.

“What we’re doing here is connecting supply with demand, (…) they’ll have the opportunity to find a client who’s likely interested in their product. They’ll find options at the business meeting, or purchasing managers, who were very difficult to find back then. Today, we’re making them available to help them. (…) We expect more than 3.5 billion pesos in revenue over these three days,” he said.

At the expo’s opening, he emphasized that Sedesu is coordinating the event, which also involves various public and private sector organizations: the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry (Canacintra), the Querétaro Chamber of Commerce, the Querétaro Automotive Cluster, as well as the Secretariats of Labor and Youth.

During the event’s opening, Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González stated that the business sector is facing a difficult time; however, he said, the expo will be a meeting point for learning about new industrial trends and the state’s productive capabilities.

Meanwhile, he emphasized that Querétaro was the fifth-largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) during the first half of the year.

“We have the best product in the world, the people of Querétaro, to continue attracting investment. Querétaro is the fifth-largest attractor of national investment. It’s easy to say, but we are a very small state compared to other states,” he said.

From January to July, Querétaro generated $970.3 million in FDI, registering an annual increase of 10.5%. With this amount, it contributed 2.8% of the investment received by the country, ranking fifth, behind Mexico City, Nuevo León, the State of Mexico, and Baja California, according to the Ministry of Economy (SE).

Kellanova Bets on Querétaro

In his speech, the president of Kellanova Latin America, Víctor Marroquín Cade, spoke of Querétaro as a strategic pillar for the company and mentioned that the company will continue to focus on its growth in the state.

He elaborated on the capabilities of Querétaro’s human capital, as well as the logistical advantages that the state’s location represents, both for its supply chains and for exports to the United States and Latin America.

“Our location today in Querétaro is truly a privileged one, which is why we continue to invest in Querétaro, and it will continue to be a strategic pillar for the company globally.”

The executive noted that the state opened its first plant outside the United States, in addition to establishing its main offices for Mexico and Latin America.

Regarding the Pringles plant inaugurated in June, he added that this production center will generate 1,200 direct and indirect jobs at full capacity; and will be the first plant in Latin America where the company achieves gender parity in its operational positions.
