The Mexico-Querétaro Highway was blocked Thursday morning, authorities reported.

It was due to a blockade by residents of Las Ánimas-Tepotzotlán, on the Las Ánimas-Coyotepec state highway, who are opposed to the construction of industrial warehouses in the area.

What is known about the blockade on the Mexico-Querétaro Highway?

Early Thursday morning, a group of residents set up a camp blocking vehicular traffic to demand that authorities halt the construction of industrial warehouses, as they claim the trailers are causing roadblocks in streets and avenues, making traffic in the neighborhoods impossible.

The blockade jammed the Mexico-Querétaro Highway in both directions, as well as the Teoloyucan-Las Ánimas State Highway, causing severe traffic chaos.

Traffic disruptions were reported as far away as neighboring municipalities such as Cuautitlán Izcalli, Tultitlán, and Tlalnepantla.

Through its X account, Caminos y Puentes Federales de Ingresos y Servicios Conexos (Capufe) reported this morning heavy traffic at kilometer 42, at the exit to the town of Teoloyucan.

Similarly, during the early morning hours, it reported that traffic disruptions were being reported at kilometer 56, heading toward Mexico City (CDMX), at the exit gate to the town of Jorobas.

Later in the morning, the protesters voluntarily withdrew, but threatened to block again if their voices were not heard.
