The Querétaro State Health Secretariat (Sesa) urged the population to adopt and strengthen preventive measures against dengue fever due to the increase in cases reported in the state and nationwide. The agency emphasized the importance of eliminating mosquito breeding sites, protecting oneself from mosquito bites, and immediately seeking medical attention if symptoms such as fever, headache, or general malaise, among others, appear.

As of May 16, 2025, 17 positive cases have been confirmed in Querétaro, of which 12 correspond to mild dengue fever and five present warning signs. The patients are distributed among the municipalities of Cadereyta de Montes (1), El Marqués (2), Jalpan de Serra (5), Peñamiller (2), Querétaro (6), and Tequisquiapan (1). Nationally, the situation is broader, with 3,354 confirmed cases and 18 deaths reported as of May 12.

Between January and April 2025, vector brigades carried out control actions in 29 locations, collecting 16.95 tons of debris. They also applied larvicide to more than 24,000 homes and nearly 50,000 warehouses, protected more than 61,000 residents, fumigated 180 hectares, sprayed the interior of 1,222 homes, and placed more than 15,000 ovitraps to monitor the transmitting mosquito.

SESA (Sesa) reminded residents that dengue is a viral disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, and anyone can contract it, even if previously infected. The most serious symptoms include severe abdominal pain, persistent or bloody vomiting, bleeding gums or nose, and extreme fatigue. Therefore, the public is asked to allow access to identified health brigade personnel, who conduct patrols and fumigation work in the highest-risk areas.
