The president of the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry, Guanajuato delegation (CMIC), Raúl Silva Ávila, reported that planning studies are underway for the Mexico-Guadalajara Train, which will pass through the municipalities of Celaya, Salamanca, and Irapuato.

He said that this is a flagship project of the federal government, which will travel a distance of 581 kilometers and pass through six states, including Guanajuato, where construction will begin this year on the Irapuato-Querétaro section.

“What’s starting this year, and in fact, planning studies are already underway, is the general project for Mexico-Guadalajara, but it’s starting on the Irapuato-Querétaro stretch, so we’re going to have a lot of work on railroads in the state of Guanajuato.”

The construction leader stated that the terminals being built in the three municipalities of Guanajuato will undoubtedly spur dynamism in the local construction sector.

“What’s starting this year, and in fact, planning studies are already underway, is the general project for Mexico-Guadalajara, but it’s starting on the Irapuato-Querétaro stretch, so we’re going to have a lot of work on railroads in the state of Guanajuato,” he said.

He said the railway work, given the consolidation of the Mexico-Guadalajara Train, will be of great benefit to the residents of Mexico City, Hidalgo, Querétaro, Guanajuato, Michoacán, and Jalisco.
