Querétaro leads vineyard tourism

Querétaro is the state that receives the most visitors nationwide through wine tourism, said Tourism Secretary Adriana Vega Vázquez Mellado.

“We can’t let this decline, so we’re looking at various strategies to achieve this. The governor has asked us to address all security issues, and we should continue to reinforce it with our colleagues,” she noted.

According to the Tourism Secretary, there are more than one million visitors a year to Querétaro’s vineyards and cheese factories.

She said they are currently focusing on a campaign to attract tourists from Mexico City for the grape harvest season.

“Ultimately, we have 20 million potential customers there, whom we need to win over, and that’s where we have the greatest attraction for Querétaro.”

She emphasized that the grape harvest will begin in June, so they are developing a calendar to ensure there are events every weekend and that the harvests of more than two vineyards are not concurrent per week.

“So we’re creating different synergies to promote and disseminate the grape harvests. So keep the calendar in mind, but we’re also doing tastings, we’re doing all kinds of experiences so you don’t miss out,” he explained.
