At least 23 people were injured after a tourist bus from Querétaro was struck by a train in Coahuila. The passengers were on their way to vacation in the region.
The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon on Highway 30, at the Cuatro Ciénegas to San Pedro junction, where the Querétaro Tours bus was traveling. The bus driver allegedly attempted to beat the train, resulting in the collision.
The Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection of Cuatro Ciénegas, Coahuila, confirmed the accident and stated that various emergency services attended to the injured passengers. Responders included elements from the Monclova Red Cross, Civil Protection and Firefighters from San Buenaventura, Nadadores, Abasolo, Escobedo, and Lamadrid, as well as ZAMU Coahuila and Voluntary Ambulances from Monclova.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported, but 23 passengers sustained injuries. There were 32 people on the bus, all traveling to discover the tourist attractions of the Magical Town of Cuatro Ciénegas.
Paramedics transported at least 10 injured individuals to a hospital in Monclova, while the remaining injured were taken to other hospitals in Cuatro Ciénegas.
