Inspiring women could be the motto of the Girls Road Tour. A brief technical stop in the magical town of Tequisquiapan, Querétaro, was enough for the 16 drivers of the first edition of the only rally exclusively for women in the country to awaken the motivation in dozens of young people to venture into the world of motorsports.
The town that is considered the geographic center of Mexico became the stage where children, young people and adults took advantage of the opportunity to take a photo, ask for an autograph and even hug the drivers and navigators of the luxury cars that arrived at its main square.
At the foot of the Tequis cathedral, Porsche, Audi, Chevrolet, JAC vehicles, among others, arrived before the eyes and expectations of the people of Querétaro. Hundreds of mobile devices were ready to portray the colorful silhouettes of cars that are rarely seen on its streets.
The Girls Road Tour is more than a race
The attendees who enlivened the place with small checkered flags were in for a big surprise when they realized that those behind the wheel were sixteen daring women. This select group of drivers made the decision to venture into the world of rally racing in a test that demands more than speed, precision.
“I was very excited and very motivated to be part of this great event that is precisely to motivate more women to enter motorsports, to see that behind the helmet there is no gender and that this sport is for everyone,” said María Fernanda Rodríguez, the renowned tractor-trailer and Formula 5 driver with great feeling in her words.
All of Querétaro turned out
The girls and boys stood out in the contingent of spectators, who pounced on the flashy cars with great amazement. Several still in their school uniforms – even a group of cheerleaders from a nearby high school – sought out with great euphoria to shake hands with one of the drivers.
The children did not care about not knowing their names, their admiration rose to one hundred percent after noticing that they were the drivers of the cars that aroused their interest.
