With the presence of 43 contestants and more than 300 people, national and international chefs, traditional cooks, artisans and universities from Querétaro, Nayarit, Jalisco, Aguascalientes, Hidalgo, Puebla, Mexico City and the State of Mexico, the fourth edition of the Student Gastronomic Competition was held.
The State Tourism Secretariat (SECTUR), through the director of Tourism Promotion, Rodrigo Ibarra Lozano, shared that this fourth edition of the competition, which was held at the UVM Campus, Querétaro, represents an opportunity for young chefs to share and praise Querétaro cuisine in other states.
During the event, there was the presence of judges such as Ricardo Muños Zurita, author of Larousse of Mexican food; Chef Guy Santoro, president of L’ Academie Culinaire de France, among others, who evaluated the three categories of the contest.
First place in the Three-Course Menu category went to Xhel García and Daniela Urquiza from the IGES Querétaro University; in Chocolate it went to Andrea Contreras and Alejandro Acosta, from the Santa Fe University; while in Mukimono Art, the winner went to Odalys Hernández, from the Interdisciplinary University of Entrepreneurs of San Martín Texmelucan.
During the closing ceremony, chef Aarón Chávez, organizer of the Querétaro Student Gastronomic Competition, thanked the participation of speakers, students, schools, institutes and universities specialized in gastronomy, SECTUR, CANIRAC, the Querétaro Gastronomic Culture Conservatory, Vatel Club México, L’Acadèmie Culinaire de France, Disciples de Escoffier, sommeliers, and other associations.
