The Querétaro International Airport presented the second highest percentage in cargo increase between 2020 and 2021 with 55.1 percent in international cargo, followed by Monterrey with 35.8 percent and preceded by Cancun, with 62.4 percent.
With connections to more than 200 destinations in the world, the Querétaro International Airport (AIQ) is currently ranked as the third cargo airport hub at the national level –just below Mexico City and Guadalajara– and the fifth at the national level. international.
The transfer of cargo leaving the entity to the country’s main operations centers, as well as the import and export market with the United States, has managed to remain active despite the health crisis; During 2021, 64,963 tons were transported with a monthly average of 5,000 tons, while in 2020, despite the restrictions due to the pandemic, 45,152 tons were transported.

It should be noted that three of the largest parcel companies in the world currently operate in the state: FedEx, DHL, and UPS. The arrival of UPS, in February 2020, made it possible to connect Querétaro with Louisville, Kentucky, a route that connects with more than 200 destinations in the world. In addition, during that same year, operations began as a national hub for the logistics company MeLiAir, belonging to the Mercado Libre Company.
According to data from Terminal Logistics, from 2015 to date the AIQ has generated 141 jobs and has also reported a 150 percent growth in the infrastructure of its cargo terminal. It is precisely these facilities that make AIQ stand out in terms of freight transportation, since its loading platform –installed in an area of 35 thousand square meters– has space for four positions.
It also has a cold chain team to guarantee the safety and good condition of pharmaceutically relevant products, which has made it possible to support anti-COVID vaccination brigades nationwide. The cargo terminal has a cold room of 300 square meters and a freezer room with an area of 70 square meters; For these services, the cargo terminal was recently granted the CEIV Pharma certification (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics).
