“We want to do things well, that Cofepris authorizes us, but (we will do it) if there are obstacles,” warned the state Secretary of Health. “If we vaccinate massively, we open everything: stadiums, concerts, activities, casinos, restaurants, shopping centers,” said the governor of Nuevo Leon Jaime Rodríguez “El Bronco”.
MONTERREY, NL (January 18, 2021).- Nuevo Leon State Secretary of Health, Manuel de la O Cavazos, announced that he will travel to Russia to purchase covid 19 vaccines manufactured there, in order to immunize the population of Nuevo León, either the federal government gives authorization or not.
After affirming in recent days that the distribution of the biological product has become a political issue, by involving the so-called Servants of the Nation, the state official said that the Federal Commission for Protection and Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) must give it authorization by the urgency here for vaccines.
“As we are at war today, the impossible is being done and Cofepris has to authorize us because it has to be a facilitator and not a blocker. And once they authorize us, we are going to apply them, and if he does not authorize us, we are going to apply them, if they have FDA approval, “he said, quoting the US Food and Drug Administration agency, which regulates in that country uses vaccines and other biologicals.
For his trip to Russia, of a date not yet determined, he said that he will be received by the Federal Secretary of Health of that nation.
De la O Cavazos pointed out that the state has to be more intense and swift to respond to the coronavirus, which is why it is also already looking for the in other countries, to vaccinate the more than 5 million residents of Nuevo León, who are a society that “is dying.”
“We have more than 7 thousand deaths. The economy is destroyed in our state, and the only way to save a society is to do this kind of thing with covid vaccines. We want to do things well, that Cofepris authorizes us, but (we will do it) if there are obstacles and (the vaccine) is approved by the FDA ”.
“We have Coepris, which is a regulatory body in the state, which we would never use to harm the health of Nuevo Leon, and we also have a border, to be able to choose the United States,” warned De la O, this morning during the opening of a drive-thru module at Arena Monterrey, for the application of the influenza vaccine.
For his part, Governor Jaime Rodríguez El Bronco said that there is already support from local businessmen, who would finance the vaccine to immunize their employees so that, as soon as possible, with mass vaccination, everything in Nuevo León can be reopened.
He acknowledged that if they buy the substance on their own, it will cost more because its label would be a commercial price, a condition that will not prevent them from accessing it, because the state is in a hurry.
“We cannot wait a year. Nuevo León is a state that would produce much more than what it would cost us (the vaccine). If we vaccinate massively, we open everything: stadiums, concerts, activities, casinos, restaurants, shopping centers. The activity would return in a resounding way to Nuevo León ”, he said.
El Bronco concluded by saying that Nuevo Leon employers would vaccinate their employees and the state government would distribute the immunization among people who cannot receive it through their workplace.
