The average occupancy is 91% and that is how it will behave until next weekend
Mazatlán, Sinaloa. On the penultimate weekend of the summer vacation period, Mazatlán recorded levels of almost 100% in hotel occupancy and it is estimated that it has a growth of 3 percentage points, compared to the same period of the previous year.
The president of the Concanaco Servytur Hotels and Motels Commission, Guillermo Romero Rodríguez, acknowledged that the season has been outstanding, it has maintained very well and affirmed that there had been more tourism than last year.
However, he said, it will not be reflected very well in the numbers due to the different forms of accommodation today, such as renting houses and condos through digital platforms.
On the one hand, there is an unfair competition towards the hotel industry, however, it is the one that is supporting the need for more hotel rooms, but it has been a good tourist season, right now we bring 3% compared to last year, but on average We bring it 91%, and that is how it will behave until the end of the holiday period
Romero Rodríguez explained that about 50% of the tourists who come to Mazatlán on these dates come from the Northern Economic Corridor, and only 4% are of foreign origin.
We have many people from Durango, Zacatecas, Nuevo León, Chihuahua, a lot of tourism from the center and north of Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Mexico City, there are very few foreigners because in this season most of the tourism is national
On the weekend the Malecón, the beaches, and the Aquarium looked more crowded than usual, as many vacationers come to walk along the coastal promenade and take a refreshing swim in the sea.
Among the main activities that tourists seek to do this summer in Mazatlán, are visiting the Lighthouse, the Historic Center, and the beaches, as well as enjoying the cuisine based on seafood.
